This image marks the start of the Vanley Burke Galleries. The picture was taken at African Liberation Day 1979. It is one of Vanley's most famous images. Many people from Handsworth remember being at Handsworth Park that day, and many claim to be able to see themselves in the crowd.
This is the introduction to the Vanley Burke Galleries. The galleries are split into subjects, for example, African Liberation Day, Religion, Education, Protest. You can either view a subject of particular interest, or work your way through all the galleries. As you reach the end of each subject, you will have the opportunity to return to the main results page and select another gallery to view.
